have been watching this bbc series about entrepreneurship + reality show combined.sounds like another reality show gimmick but its by a rather educational source and hence, it has been proven to be really interesting & amusing at times.Its called ‘dragons’ den’ & joshua was the person who introduced the show to me hehe.(maybe we are starting to think alike in certain aspects)..To be able to pitch a business idea really requires more than a good marketing strategy, and this has made me admire the management & technical skills that businessmen out there in the marketplace have. its just crazily expansive!they need the financial backing, detailed expenditure, a good vision, a thorough understanding of the target market, amongst so many other things.

enough about the academics, now on the amusing side. the sole lady businesswoman on the panel has amused me to a great extent, honestly. even as a female myself & an admitted business noob, i fail to see how she has been able to run a business successfully when she has proven to contradict herself on so many accounts!!yes intuition(and the female one especially ahah) & the benefit of being able to work with a person you’re comfortable with is a definitely a bonus, i dont understand why those factors preside over those that are more quantitative & objective..i think that only enforced a great deal about gender stereotypes sigh.

mental cos we need to pysched ourselves up to be as positive as we can be about participating in school events, orientation activities, briefings and not by cynical & un-enthusiastic cos that kind of attitude is not going to help us assimilate into school life more easily after 7mths/2years of non-school life

emotional cos uni will be a place out of our comfort zones sigh. no more close girlfriends to have face to face convos with or to go for new classes with. am not feeling v good about the whole bidding/pre-assigned modules thing..have to cope with completely new subjects like business law PLUS make new friends PLUS hopefully get good project group mates for mods like LTB.sigh.

spiritual cos life is likened to a battlezone. Philippians 2:14-15″ Do all things without grumbling or questioning,  that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world”. Many things will tempt us & cause us to question our principles but im praying v hard that God will stay ever close to me & direct my thoughts  & actions(:

maybe cherie’s right in saying its not so bad if you’ve had a similar experience in jc.suffer earlier, enjoy later hehe.but i guess God has been really good to me by keeping my close friends to me for 6years!

but yes its been ages since the 5hours-of-sleep JC days so i reckon i better start getting my system used to the tough life of being a student again..(:

but i really dont wanna be one of those who stay in school till 1130pm every day sigh ): that would signal a wrong sequence of priorities i think hmmn.

i need school or work or a project to work on!!cant go on watching the days pass without a substantial task list to complete each day.maybe this why im more task-oriented than people-oriented hmmn..

my aimlessness is driving me nuts.

funnily, that was the biggest takeaway from the hokkaido trip. awesome food & company were bonuses, of course(: i think different circumstances corner people into assuming a different role or personality trait that doesnt normally show up. Being in the company of several church uncles & aunties did make me feel slightly out of place at first cos obviously the conversations were centered on more ahem aunty-related topics. Having nothing substantial to contribute to the chatter, I naturally started listening, observing, evaluating the people, things, conversations alot more..which is not a bad thing, unless you of course bring a judgemental attitude to the whole picture.

Thank God for that short period of devotion amongst common-minded brethen that sunday that Elder Patrick led during the trip where we discussed the 2nd half of the Book of James.It was just so timely that God spoke to me & really impressed that lesson into my heart(: haha maybe being a female, you tend to fill in awkward gaps in conversations in a feeble attempt to keeping the convo flowing, cos rambling is what we do best right! alternatively, maybe we’re just socially more sensitive whatever the case, it sometimes does result in aimless words that arent really profitable or meaningful.

Proverbs 17:27-28 “He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit. Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding”

If you ask me, i think Uncle Ricky personified that quality well & that led to to respect him alot more as i got to know him slightly better after this trip, Praise God for that(: this whole lesson has also helped me understand joshua more, where previously i always pressed him for swifter verbal replies as a result of my impatience..he did occasionally remind me of the above verse as the principle behind his speech process but i never really fully understood until now(:

serious matters aside, the food at Hokkaido was AWESOME, FRESH & ULTRA YUMMY highlights include (photos will be uploaded later hehehe):

1.Semi-solid yolk in ramen
2.Giant snow crabs where you eat the legs as sashimi & the crab’s body goes into the hotpot

3.2nd grade wagyu beef- super marbled & tender.haha cos the cows there get treated better than humans, think daily massages, classical music & strolls in the fields

4.Lavender & melon flavoured soft serve ice cream. who knew you could add flower-flavouring into desserts!!!
5.sea urchin – goodness in a small shell

6.a 15min lunch at a sushi bar where the fish slices were TWICE the length of the rice pieces wohoo.in spore, the fish slices are sadly HALF the length only -.-

its so great to have a getaway just before the avalanche of activities starting coming my way when school term starts YAY

have never been so worked up during a match before, let alone a soccer match.BUT the germany-england game was EXCITING not that i expected england to win, but its more of an emotional kind of attachment that made me hope they would.i felt so bad for lampard :/the germans were brillant with their counter attacks plus they had the chance to fully make use of the lack of english defence (where on earth was john terry & team!?!?) zz.

kinda have a newfound respect for soccer players & the sport cos there’s no way i can forsee myself running up & down the pitch continously for like 45mins at one shot. plus players who play in the right spirit definitely brings the game to a higher level, ie read: no unecessary dramatic sliding or falling over ahem cristiano ronaldo

probably unnerving.the brain would scream as the access to internet is taken away.

we are such slaves to technology.sigh.

maybe busyness IS my security blanket!

not only because it hasnt been engaged in the study of knowledge ie.school, i think its because it didnt have the chance to think critically in response to meaningful, thought-provoking books or videos throughout the past 3weeks.just read a 26pg article on a biblical critque of the prosperity gospel which triggered some thoughts doctrinal systems.like i was telling jan yesterday, we’ve come to an age where we wanna explore & formulate concrete basis for our decisions & actions.those principles eventually have to be founded on Christian beliefs, i hope(: i wanna be out in the marketplace to listen to people, their worldviews & then slowly shape mine to be one that is principled yet open-minded.

i realised that looking back on memories usually generate 2 kinds of feelings- either of regret or thankfulness.And i dont wanna live life looking back on my years & seeing how i spent them without purpose or meaning yknow?when i turned 19, it was kinda scary thinking how 1/4 of my life has passed by..may He be my guide & strength esp in the next 4 years!

freshman camp is next week & i have NO idea what is going on.craps

1. moving around at the rate slower than a tortoise due to sprained ankle which now looks ballooned & bruised

2. unable to successfully login into smu OASIS portal.wanted so badly to finish all the admin stuff at one shot!had to email helpdesk & they better reply me

3. trying to cancel appointments for the next few days due to immobility

but im thankful that God has provided good people who warmed my heart with their sincere actions & words when i got injured.yay for them(:
